Once again, God shows us that the process of restoring and remediating health, healing and safety to our environment (whether we start in our head, or in the garden of our relationships) is done through the work on the Cross (Colossians 1:16-20). So how does this personal and relational “clean up” process happen? In this workbook, you will have the opportunity to “remediate” or “heal your land” by identifying areas of your life or marriage that need growth and development, fruitfulness and edification. Based on your self-discovery, you’ll have the opportunity to select from over 400 “Positive Values” or “seeds” to plant in the soil of your heart which when developed, will help you to become a fruitful, mature and productive human being. The cultivation of your values creates healing agents in your life and marriage when they are intentionally and strategically developed. Remediation occurs when you live by the values that you cultivate within your head and heart and practice these values with the “neighbors” in your life (i.e., spouse, family members, workplace).

About the Author
Dr. Ken McGill is an ordained minister and has been involved in counseling for more than 25 years. Ken holds a Bachelor’s degree in Religion from Pacific Christian College (now Hope International University), a Certificate of Completion in the Alcohol and Drug Studies/Counseling Program from the University of California at Los Angeles and a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. Ken received his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Family Psychology from Azusa Pacific University in May, 2003. Ken’s dissertation focused on the development of an integrated treatment program for the sexually addicted homeless population, and Ken was “personally mentored” by dissertation committee member Dr. Patrick Carnes, a pioneer in the field of sex addiction work. Ken authored a chapter in the text The Clinical Management of Sex Addiction, with his chapter addressing the homeless and sex addiction. Ken is also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the States of Texas and California and Mississippi, and is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, through the International Institute for Trauma and Addictive Professionals (IITAP). Ken had a private practice in Glendora, CA (Aspen Counseling Center), Inglewood, CA (Faithful Central Bible Church), and Hattiesburg, MS (River of Life Church), specializing in the following areas with individuals, couples, families, groups and psychoeducational training: addictions and recovery, pre-marital, marital and family counseling, issues related to traumatization and abuse, as well as depression, grief, loss, anger management and men’s and women’s issues. Ken also provided psychotherapeutic treatment with Student-Athletes on the University of Southern Mississippi Football and Men’s Basketball teams. Ken served as the Director of the Gentle Path Program, which is a seven-week residential program, for people who are challenged with sexual addiction, sexual anorexia, and relationship issues. Ken also supervised Doctoral students in the Southern Mississippi Psychology Internship Consortium with the University of Southern Mississippi. Ken was inducted into the Azusa Pacific University Academic Hall of Honor, School of Behavioral and Applied Sciences, in October, 2010. Ken currently works as a Private practice clinician with an office in Plano, Texas, providing treatment with people who are challenged in the areas mentioned above.

A must read for anyone on a journey to wholeness!

I am on a journey to wholeness and healing in my life and this book is an integral piece of that journey. Cultivating Love: Growing Character will remain in my library and will be read at least once a quarter. I devoured it in less than 24 hours and have already begun working through it again! I highly recommend it to anyone who like me is seeking wholeness and healing in their life. This book provides great information and thought provoking work that will help you on your journey.

Though his humor is anything but subtle, it is often on target--as when Jenkins escorts the reader to one of golf's major tournaments, the Chrysler/Shearson/Nissan Sausage 'n' Biscuit K mart Klassic, where winning 19th place pays the victor a half-million dollars. A fan of college football and pro golf, primarily, the author gives other sports short shrift, and allows his enthusiasm for the grid game to produce several interminable lists of facts (e.g., names, dates and scores of "significant games in the first 120 years of college football.") But bright, entertaining pieces on travel ("Dateline Erotica," on London), movies and literature ("Real Men Eat Cliches") offer compensation. Misogyny occasionally mars the author's jocular, engaging voice.

Jenkins, who pioneered the good-old-boy style of sportswriting (for example, his much earlier works: Semi-Tough , LJ 10/15/72; Dead Solid Perfect , LJ 10/1/74), serves up more of the same in this collection of articles culled mainly from his magazine and newspaper columns. He covers topics that range from auto racing to tennis, but center mostly on what he considers the engaging sports (collegiate football, golf) as opposed to the tedious (ice hockey, soccer, etc.). Sprinkled throughout are the salty characters and dialogue his devotees would expect. A discordant note is his fascination with lists that frequently border on the trivial (who, for example, really needs a list of Heisman Trophy losers?). BOO !!

This episode would be the one that would air on Halloween ....... if you like your drama with a twist (literally) of the supernatural, then grab a spoon because you will eat this one up.

Much of this episode revolves around one character and a group dedicated to helping that character. The author is clearly into his tale, which takes the reader on a wild 'side' ride outside of the rest of the drama. There are lots of crazy happenings as this special episode goes on to resolve itself.

Outside of that, the rest of the characters don't have much involvement. There is slight movement in several of the tales ....movement of a sexual nature, of course ........what do you expect from a DIRTY soap opera.

Closs is very talented at keeping the reader's interest and in setting up the tale. Seven episodes in (and I'm halfway through episode 8) and I've been wrong about just as much as I've been right about the plot turns.

What I know 100 % is that someone will shake their f$*%ing head and I will said 'Fudge' ............ha ha ............and also I continue to 100 % enjoy the efforts of the author.
