A touching love story and a compelling read.

The Medicine Man, Book 1, draws us into the beginning of a relationship between Kasey and Ashwin when they meet briefly as young children. They meet again, years later, and a dance of sorts begins between them as they watch each other from their respective balconies, high above the beach.

I enjoyed the back-story of each of the main characters and it gave me insight into who they were as individuals.

They are a well matched couple and fall in love easily. However, the unexpected finds its way into their lives and leaves the reader compelled to turn the pages in search of the outcome.

Sensual love scenes combined with suspense create an unforgettable story that will not disappoint the reader.

Sensual, heart stopping romance!

I received a complimentary copy of The Medicine Man but this does not affect my honest review! Ashwin and Kasey's story was a heart tugging and at times heart rending romantic journey! I love the dynamics of their relationship, the bond that began as mere children was easily re-established once again as adults. This bond also remain solid through the many trials that came their way.

The beauty of their deepening love for one another was not only shown in their very sensual lovemaking but also in their devotion to the other and how they drew strength from the other.

I won't give any spoilers, but this was a lush romantic tale, at times dark but even in the darkness, the hope of their love remained a light for the reader to follow.

Well written, with a steady flowing pace and imagery which draws the reader into the story. The Medicine Man is a treat for a true romantic!

Recommend for those who enjoy Romance and for Adult Readers.

Oh I truly enjoyed this book. Starting with the Cherokee Ashwinn who is tall and dark and handsome in every way. He has long beautiful black hair as is his Indian tradition as well as those chocolate eyes that can burn with pure fire. I love the way this story started out, the way the two charters became friends and then lovers. Kasey has a lot of things that happen to her and Ashwinn is always there. He is also a doctor and a shaman. You will laugh and you will cry so grab the Kleenex. The wit of the Author is amazing as she carries you on this journey. And the ending will leave you breathless

He has over 20 years’ experience in human resource management and is certified as a senior professional in human resources by the Society for Human Resource Management. He is also a certified career coach granted by the Institute of Career Certification International and the Career Coach Institute. Joe is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Institute of Career Certification International. Joe is also a member of the International Coach Federation, the Association of Career Professionals International and the National Resume Writers Association. Joe has published numerous articles on recruiting and career management in magazines such as the Facility Management Journal, Business To Business, Legal Management, and Human Resource Information Management. Highly suspicious reviews

I have no idea whether this is a good book or not.

All I can say is most of the reviews here seem to be written in the same style, probably by the same person, and around the same dates.

Must-Read! Extremely Helpful!

The author is extremely motivational. His tactics seem to relate well no matter how much previous work experience you have or lack. Further, his plan is well thought out, easy to understand, and clearly broken down into categories that seem surmountable. His plan did not scare me - it seemed like a path I could actually follow and not a system that was unrealistic or too time consuming to lead to a profitable result. Joe Carroll's book gave me a very positive outlook on job searching that is hard to stay focused on in the midst of this economic downturn we are faced with. I would recommend this book to anyone who needs a little guidance in their quest to find what makes them truly happy and a reminder that a positive attitude is worth so much more than we sometimes give it credit for.

Inspiring and Practical

I could not get past the introduction without screaming "Yes!" I needed this book in 2009 while I was a less than stellar graduate student in the life sciences. I had been poorly mentored by a grad student. The principal researcher who was frustrated with my lack of progress "diagnosed" me with a learning disorder. I started to realize that I may not be living up to my potential in that particular situation, and this book relates to this idea. He repeats some other things which I think is good because it helps you to focus on how to bring everything he is saying together. As you get into the chapters, all the advice is practical such as staying healthy, using a phone to job hunt (imagine that!), and many other great tips. One thing that could be viewed as a negative by some is that the author makes it known he is a Christian and does talk about it throughout the book. It does not offend me and I hope that it doesn't overshadow the practical information that he provides. Also, for those of use just coming into the job market, making connections is definitely going to be harder. Overall, the book maintains a very positive tone from beginning to end, something that gets lost when the search for a job seems insurmountable. I would highly recommend this book for if you are looking for a job.

This is philosophy from someone who has figured out what it means to be an American in the city without a car - and to narrate a your own story to avoid becoming a victim of the windshield perspective.

Risemberg's collection of essays sometimes rants, sometimes reaches for the heady and philosophical, and sometimes stuns with funny moments that are simply out of reach for the people stuck in the modern Happy Motoring mindset.

It can be hard to live in a big American city, or any car-dominated place, and maintain a healthy understanding of your identity, the natural world, and your status. It is easy to describe yourself and your life from the perspective of those driving by you at 45 mph in their glass boxes on wheels.

The reading is ideally suited for those in-between moments of your day - waiting for a bus, on your break at work, a quiet stop on a long walk or a bike ride. I worked my way through Risembergs essays as I lived my version of some of the moments he writes about; I felt safer for reading his essays about things in life I hadn't been through yet but now could see arising.

Risemberg's an author whose time has come for a younger generation rising up to meet him. Get on this bus!

Meditations from the city streets.

There are some very fine essays in this collection, thoughts expressed in concise, passionate, quotable prose. This book is clearly the work of someone who takes the time to truly experience a place and taken the time to get to know people. There is a lot of love for city places in these pages and a fair bit of rage directed at a society that often places cars and corporations ahead of people.

While I enjoyed every essay and found food for thought on virtually every page, a few of the essays would perhaps fit better in another book. I loved the recounting of a bike tour and the humorous misadventures with various sailing companions, but I'm not sure these tales added to the work as a whole. Kind of like adding raisins to a chocolatechip cookie, sometimes not everything should go in one batch!

But the book is well worth its price and your time.The essay on graffiti and songbirds is just terrific and the late night and early morning walks are recounted so well you not only see and hear them, you damn near smell and taste them. Richard Risemberg has looked closely at his city and his words will make you look much closer at yours.

A great collection of essays here

A great collection of essays here! While "Our Own Day Here" would be of particular interest to Angelenos and practical cyclists (and I am both of those!), anyone aspiring to be a more conscious and conscientious citizen of the world would do well to read this. It may not make you move to Los Angeles if you're not already somewhere in the Southland, but it will probably help you find your way out of your suburb and into your nearest city.
