This story was the icing on the SWEET cupcake! :)

Candis brings you back on a wild ride through Sweet, Texas with Sweet Surprise. So far, you have been able to watch them Wilder boys wreck havoc on the hearts they set their sights on. This time, the ex-wife of one of them Wilder boys is in for the ride of her life when Mike Halsey set his sights on her. Some things don't change, like how love is brought into her life - but this time her has her guards up.
Some things in Sweet, Texas don't change. Jackson may have found love, but the fun loving firefighter is still there - evident in those firehouse conversations.
"I leave the breathing-hard part for better more satisfying things." Jackson gave him a familiar smirk.
Even though Fiona isn't of blood relation to Jana, she is family and that is enough for the infamous Jana Wilder to set her meddling ways on the unsuspecting Fiona and Mike. And while I will not reveal all the tricks that Momma Wilder has up her sleeves - they are FUN FUN FUN! And the men aren't the only ones have conversations that muster a giggle or two. Fiona and the girls of Sweet are just as nuts!
Sabrina shook her head, and her chestnut ponytail swung across her back. "I've appointed myself your get-laid fairy godmother."
Candis dives into each story with such raw emotions that you can't help but become emotionally involved in these encounters. The rough patches break my heart. As a mother myself, the scenes in which he handles Izzy melts my heart like nothing else can. And when they get over their issues and give into all things Sweet, I am filled with relief and utter peace. My favorite part of the journey? Their playful banter.
He dove back into the sandwich, then he stuck the plastic fork into the potato salad and took a bite. "What are you doing next weekend?"
"Why?"
He grinned. "I might have to marry you if you can cook this good."
"Again with the sweet talk," she joked.

"Well...I'm always happy to leave the door open for possibilities."
"No worries." He winked. "If it's closed, I'm a fireman. I've got great door-busting skills."
Now, this wouldn't be a romance without a HEA - so I won't make you ponder the will they/won't they... they will and it's HOT! Like call Jackson and his team - the place is SMOKIN'!
Fiona fell heart over head in love.
I can't wait to see how Candis ties it all up. I just love watching the Wilder family grow with all the love that Cupid aka Momma Wilder is conspiring on giving a nudge.

I absolutely love my military romances... but there's just something about those super sweet contemporaries that just make your heart smile -- and my heart was certainly full of smiles with SWEET SURPRISE.
SWEET SURPRISE was my first 'trip' to Sweet, Texas -- and it will certainly not by my last. I have so many questions! I want to read Jackson's book... I want to know more about Jared and Reno and Jesse... I can't wait to read about Jake -- because his profession alone makes him sexy.
...I also want to know why Reno's name doesn't start with a 'J' -- because maybe it does and because I haven't read any other story, that's simply why I don't know.
But SWEET SURPRISE...
Fiona is divorced and trying to make a go of it on her own. For far too long, she's relied on everyone around her and finally she's doing something for herself, by herself. She's opening up a cupcake shop, she's moving into a new house -- she's being independent.
...of course, meddling ex-mother-in-laws sometimes have different ideas for you.
Mike has his share of baggage and while he's all for some fun -- long term is not anywhere in his future. But again, meddling mother's of best friends sometimes have different ideas for you.
Of course, there's that whole guy-code thing. Mike wants to get to know Fiona, but how do you date your best friend's ex-wife, especially with the crap that makes up his life?
I do enjoy my fast-paced romances (so long as they're believable, of course) but this one flows nicely in a normal way -- sure, Mike and Fiona flirt and make eyes at eachother, but the first move really isn't made until a good 70% into the story, and even then the real good stuff doesn't happen for a bit after that. I love that they get to know eachother.
Mike and Fiona's chemistry is so great. While Fiona's trying to be a "good girl" and not let her alter ego, Naughty Fiona, take over, her mouth sometimes gets the best of her -- therefore, she and Mike will spew innuendos all over the place -- tasting the goods, using his tools...
One of the biggest parts of this story that made my heart happy (and my eyes watery) was how close Fiona is to the Wilder family -- the family she's now divorced from. She and her ex-husband have a fabulous relationship -- it's more than the whole 'getting along because we have a child together': they are truly great friends.
Fiona is still "little sister" to Jackson's brothers. Fiona is invited to all the family functions.
Fiona is still a Wilder, for all intents and purposes.
So needless to say...
I love this story. Love this family.
Cannot wait to see them again!

So, so Sweet!

Welcome to Sweet, Texas, where neighbors are friends, friends are family, and family is everything!
Sweet Surprise is the fourth installment in Candis Terry's Sweet, Texas series, a series I absolutely adore. Each book is fun, romantic, and sexy, and gives me exactly what I look for in escapism reading.
In this book we finally get Fiona's story, and what a story it is! I have to honest, I'm not sure I really bought her being 100% happy with her ex husband, Jackson, finding his happily ever after with another woman, but after reading Sweet Surprise... well, there's no doubt in my mind that she is definitely that kind of awesome. She and Jackson, both. They care for each other, so much, in fact, that when it became clear to them both that they married for the wrong reasons, they divorced but remained close friends. That's a tough storyline to pull off, but Candis Terry does it with flying colors!
As I said, I adore this series. Ms. Terry never fails to deliver characters we can't help but fall in love with, whether they're the leads or the supporting cast. Mike and Fiona are great people with pasts they're trying to leave behind. And even though both have their demons, they're not needy. They are strong, intelligent, hard working people who want the same things we all want; health and happiness and love. And it's their normalcy that makes them people I believe in and relate to and cheer for and, truth be told, wanted to smack when they were being too dense to realize and admit the depth of their feelings for one another.
The bottom line...
If you're like me and enjoy the close knit feel of small town romances that come with fun, quirky small town folks and just the right amount of passion and steam, then you absolutely need to read this book! I do recommend reading in order so you get get the whole back-story, but trust me, once you read Sweet Surprise, you'll want to go back and read them all, anyway. So save yourself the trouble and start from beginning. You won't regret it!
