MINDFULNESS RETURNS...

Thank you Charles for the great reminders on how to stay in the NOW. I agree with and have taught these concepts for years to many different types of audiences. In my personal life, these exercises have been not only life changing but also live saving.
The book also reminded me of how many of these valuable ideas I have stopped practicing. After many years of meditating, I stopped. This is one of your suggestions I will start again. Listening to relaxing music and vocal meditations are other stress reduction aids I have always found rewarding.
Yes, you were talking to the choir here; however, you have also reminded me that I have stopped singing many of the songs that have brought light and peace into my life.

Basic primer on mindfulness. Grammar Nazi's beware.

I thought this book had a few helpful ideas on getting started with mindfulness, but I was very distracted by the poor grammar and mistakes. What the author spelled "tackles" should have been "tactless." I'm not a fan of books not proofread. This is a very basic book; there is not a lot to it. It basically introduces mindfulness, but most books on the topic will introduce it anyway. If you can get it free, do. I paid $2.99 and frankly, it is not worth that. Good ideas poorly presented.

Religions converge!

It was most interesting for me as a believing Jew, doing his best to pray 3 times a day, and feel the presence of G-d every second, to read this book about meditation.
It actually came for me "right on time", which is not really surprising either from the book's or from my own believer's point of view.
BECAUSE EVERYTHING IN LIFE HAS A PURPOSE!
Anyway, it was very interesting for me to see teachings in this valuable book which are identical to the methods taught in what was just quite recently called "Jewish Meditation".
But I have certainly found also some things which were unknown to me to exist in our religion , and which I really think could be integrated into Jewish Meditation for the benefit of our Jewish life.
Actually, one of this book's benefits is in its avoiding any really religious preaching, and it was actually stated in the book itself as one of its guidelines.
But I must say there were a few pages which were a bit disturbing for me, especially as a religious Jew,where Elias diverged from this rule, and I do not think the book couldn't do without them.
In all, a very good and USEFUL book, only if you really wish to change your life - for the better.
