Simple, clear, and sometimes heart-breaking

I loved these personal narratives and came to love the author with whom it is so easy to sympathize as you drift through the bayous of these pages. The prose is simple, clear, and sometimes heart-breaking, especially in light of the author's mysterious and tragic end.
